Credit Frameworks

The last few years have seen an increasing emphasis on “personalisation” in UK education – tailoring the education experience to ensure that every learner reaches the highest standards possible.  While this involves changes to teaching, learning and formative assessment, it also means ensuring that qualifications are flexible and responsive to the needs of learners.  One aspect of this is the introduction of credit frameworks – breaking qualifications down into units so that learners can achieve them in smaller steps, and combine units from different Awarding Organisations to suit their needs.  In England, the Qualification and Credit Framework (introduced in 2008) provides the structure into which publicly funded qualifications must be fitted.  Similar arrangements exist in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

AlphaPlus has worked with a range of Awarding Organisations to write new units for the framework, and to convert existing qualifications to fit the requirements of the frameworks.  We have also provided design and development advice to government and other agencies on the implementation of the frameworks.
