e-Portfolios

The use of e-portfolios (personal digital spaces and services for managing learner resources) is growing rapidly in UK education with learners using them for a wide variety of purposes including reflective learning, assembly of evidence for external assessment, and transition between institutions.

AlphaPlus has played a leading role in supporting government strategy in developing the use of e-portfolios.  For example, our work for Becta and LT Scotland has helped form current models of e-portfolio provision for both learning and qualifications, and has been undertaken with the community of UK Awarding Organisations and e-portfolio system suppliers.

Our studies include the use of non-traditional e-portfolios including social software, mobile devices, as well as VLE-based and standalone products. We have also undertaken international reviews of e-portfolio practice.
